Matthew W. "Bill" Jones, IV, came to Aldersgate as our pastor in July 2001. Bill grew up on a dairy farm in Berryville, VA. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1976 with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science. He received his Masters of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in 1979. Bill also holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in Evangelism from Wesley Theological Seminary.For two years before coming to Aldersgate, Bill was a member of the adjunct faculty of Wesley Theological Seminary as a "Teaching Pastor" in the practice of Ministry and Mission. Bill has a passion for teaching DISCIPLE Bible Study, which he has been doing regularly since 1993. He has taught DISCIPLE I, II, III, and IV, and is currently teaching the new second generation course, Jesus in the Gospels.
He enjoys jogging, reading, and Virginia Tech sports. Bill has been married to Linda Ward of Arcola, Virginia for 25 years and they have two children, Sarah (who is a student VCU in Richmond) and Christa (who is a student at Mary Baldwin College).
