Join us for an evening of free music as Aldersgate UMC host the third annual Praise Expo. We are excited to have 7 local bands playing throughout the evening. Admission is free and all are welcome! Donations can be made to support Heart Havens.

Heart Havens: Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church established Heart Havens in 1993 to provide residential services for adults with intellectual disabilities. Today, it Heart-Havens-225builds and supports homes where adults with intellectual disabilities have the opportunity to live in a family setting. Heart Havens is not about houses. Heart Havens is about helping people thrive. The person-centered planning at Heart Havens promotes dignity and respect by allowing individuals to control their everyday decisions.

What Bands Will Be There?

The Campbells

Howie and Debbie have been traveling “musicianaries” for 13 years, taking the Good News to the street and the nooks and crannies of America. Prior to salvation Howie was a professional musician and Debbie was a high-fashion model. AUMC Praise Band

The Aldersgate Praise Band was established over 6 years ago, and currently plays during Sunday Service at 9 AM at AUMC. For the Praise Expo, they are joined by Zac Hubbard on electric guitar and Harris Kindrick on drums. Styles range from “unplugged” to moderate Christian Rock, with a growing mini-chorus of female vocalists.


Julie Bernstein

Our Emcee for the evening, Julie is the worship director at Christ Community Church of Charlottesville, VA, where she leads and trains the next generation of worship leaders and musicians. She has a strong desire to “sharpen the focus of the worshiping church.” Writing and producing music for several years, she will be releasing a new album called “You Are My Joy.”


CherryAve Christian Church Band

Cherry Avenue Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational Christian Church. They are located just minutes from the University Of Virginia campus, whose focus is on Sharing Hope, Building Faith, and Showing Love. This is the second Praise Expo performance by their blues & rock influenced band. Learn more at CherryAve.net


AUMC Youth Band

The “YPB” are comprised of teenaged members of AUMC, and have played contemporary Christian rock monthly at Sunday services at Aldersgate UMC for the last 4+ years. They also play at District Youth Retreats at Westview on the James, and at an annual end-of-year concert. This is their debut at the Praise Expo.


Lee Baines

Lee Baines opened for the first Praise AUMC Praise Expo. He is a United Methodist sing & worship leader, and former leader of Nightlights Contemporary Worship. Lee also is very active in District Youth events throughout Virginia in addition to his many live performances with Christian rock bands.


Men of Evergreen

Evergreen Ministries is a nondenominational church located at 2331 Seminole Trail across from the Double Tree Hotel. Men of Evergreen (M.O.E.) have performed for festivals, fundraisers worship services and showcases. Their mission is to spread the gospel through music, testimonies and fellowship.
