1Timothy 4:4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, provided it is received with thanksgiving
Gift of Gratitude
God has given me so many gifts in my life. The greatest is my daughter Olivia. I suppose every parent can say that. You hear all the time how a child will change your life when you meet them. Then yours comes along, and you think, “Ahhh – that is what they meant.”
One of the greatest ways that God worked through Olivia in changing my life is to give me a greater understanding of accepting help. God led me to understand that one person can’t do it all on their own. Before Olivia, I certainly tried. The amount of pressure I put on myself was so great that it would make me physically sick. To be the best I could be as an employee, friend, daughter, wife, and now mother. Then I met Olivia and found the true joy of just being. Being quiet. Not caring if the laundry is done or groceries are bought. Being able to accept help from others and truly appreciate their generosity.
I am blessed to have found the wonderful love and support at Aldersgate Church that continues these gifts. There is always someone praying for your family, bringing a meal, or dumping a bucket of ice on their head for your family. There is the opportunity to share your own gifts and be appreciated for what you offer to our church family. I know that I am a much better person now that I understand what it is to lean on others and have them lean on you. Knowing that in God’s love, we are all family and with his strength will get through the good times as well as the bad. My heart is full of gratitude for the church and the people in it.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you have bestowed on my life. You have provided me with more than I could ever have imagined. You have surrounded me with people who always look out for me. You have given me family and friends who bless me every day with kind words and actions. They lift me up in ways that keep my eyes focused on you and make my spirit soar. Amen.
