In my father’s house there are many mansions ….. John 14:2
Thirteen years ago my husband and I were looking for a location to move to when we retired. We took many weekend trips to visit areas in North Carolina and Virginia. One of these trips took us to the Waynesboro area. A real estate agent brought us information on the homes she would be showing us the next day. We looked at four houses but kept talking about the first one we had seen, and then went back to look at it again. We had not planned to buy yet, but by the next day we both knew that this was the house for our retirement.
The minister in our new hometown was a man we already knew through his youth work with our daughter seven years before in northern Virginia. We found a Sunday school class we liked. My husband joined the Lions Club and we developed many new friendships very quickly.
Two years after we moved to this house my husband’s mother needed to live with someone and our new home had a very good layout for this to be possible. We were fortunate to have her with us for the next seven years. Not only did this plan work for daily living but we also had space enough so that when relatives wanted to come visit her we could offer them comfortable accommodations.
We believe that God led us to this home for our retirement years. This location and house has been “right” for us in many ways. We have found a church and community to be involved in for this stage of our lives. Thanks be to God!
Prayer: Father, Give us the wisdom to follow your plan for our lives. Amen.
