| Staff-Parish Relations Committee | |
| Function: | The Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) meets regularly with the pastors to review the pastors' relationship with the congregation and to provide counsel for strengthening the ministry of the church. The committee is the liaison between the congregation and the District Superintendent and Bishop in the appointment process, and makes an annual recommendation concerning the re-appointment of the pastor. SPRC recruits, employs, and supervises all paid staff of the church. SPRC interviews members of the congregation who believe themselves to be called into the ordained ministry of The United Methodist Church and makes recommendations to the Charge Conference. |
| Membership: | Not fewer than five nor more than nine persons who are full members of the church. One member shall be a young adult and one member may be a youth. In addition, a lay leader and a lay member to annual conference shall be members. No staff member or immediate family member of a pastor or staff member may serve on the committee. Only one person from an immediate family residing in the same household shall serve on the committee. In order to secure experience and stability, the membership shall be divided into three classes, one of which shall be elected each year for a three-year term. |
| Meetings: | Shall meet at least quarterly. It shall meet additionally at the request of the bishop, the district superintendent, the pastor, any member of the professional staff, or the chairperson of the committee. It shall meet only with the knowledge of the pastor and/or the district superintendent. |
